While the DB11 Volante was available with a V-12 engine, the DB12 is V-8 only, although with a power increase, which means the smaller powerplant has a higher peak output—671 hp, accompanied by 590 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels through a standard eight-speed automatic transaxle mounted at the rear of the car to improve weight distribution. By Aston’s numbers, the Volante is just 250 pounds heavier than the DB12 Coupe and a tenth slower in the 0–60-mph benchmark, now taking a claimed 3.6 seconds.
