Build a road and people can travel more safely. But build a community’s knowledge of project management and you empower generations to come. To turn that inspiration into reality, India’s Ministry of Rural Development called on the experts with the PMI Pearl City, Hyderabad Chapter.
@indiaruraldev recognized that “a huge amount of allocated funds get wasted due to lack of coordination, communication and knowledge in managing projects,” explains Adil Warsi, a project manager at
@deloitteindia and longtime member of the chapter. “Some of the projects either did not get completed or did not live up to their promise.”
So a team of chapter volunteers took action with a project to upgrade the worn and often flooded road between the remote village of Hiware and the city of Ahmednagar in the state of Maharashtra. But the project didn’t just help upgrade a critical piece of infrastructure. The team also taught residents how to manage future projects.
