I never really grew up fishing even though I lived in Minnesota for the majority of my life. Fly fishing always peaked my interest, but I never really lived somewhere where I could actually explore that hobby.
Since moving to North Carolina I’ve been able to get out a handful of times, and it’s been nothing short of enjoyable. Rarely do I actually catch fish, but there’s just something about standing in a river up to your waist with your only focus being on the rhythm and cadence of your movements that’s intoxicating. Everything else fades away in that moment. All your problems, stresses, anxiety, the list goes on. It’s been one of the best ways I’ve found to decompress and actually engage with nature.
