After a high school volleyball game against Lower Merion our team found out Kobe was shooting around with his old coach in the next gym. We reluctantly asked for pictures. He took the time with each of us, jokingly asking how a rival team was allowed inside their doors. As someone who (mistakenly) thought they’d play in the WNBA...it was pretty rad. I played Narberth summer league and remember thinking how Kobe did too, and maybe his greatness would rub off on me. Then I boo’d him during the Sixers run like everyone else in Philly. He took it like a champ. This day meant a lot to me, as did his career. RIP Mamba🙏
