🎉 Exciting news, it's a new era for surgical care at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center! Earlier this month, we celebrated the reopening of the newly renovated pre-operative surgery and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) at MedStar Southern Maryland. Dr. Stephen T. Michaels, president of MedStar Southern Maryland and senior vice president of MedStar Health, and Dr. David Weiner, spine surgeon, shared how this transformation will improve efficiency, collaboration, and—most importantly—patient care. The $3 million renovation expanded and modernized the 4,000 sq. ft. space, which now features 17 patient bays, dedicated pre-op and PACU areas, two nurses' stations, and enhanced accommodations for patients and providers. These upgrades will allow for better patient flow, increased privacy, and a more comfortable experience before and after surgery.
