Yesterday marked Women’s Equal Pay Day, but for Black women in the creator economy, the pay gap is even deeper—especially if they don’t fit society’s idea of a “palatable” Black woman. Dark-skinned, plus-size, and trans Black creators are constantly overlooked for brand deals, deemed “too niche” or “not marketable enough.” The industry still prioritizes a narrow, whitewashed version of Black femininity while underpaying or completely ignoring those who exist outside of it. It’s time to challenge these beauty standards and demand real equity—because visibility without fair compensation is just another form of exploitation. Big love to zioranachidimma for sparking this conversation! #EqualPayDay #PayBlackCreators
