As Multnomah County faces questions about a huge shortfall in its upcoming homelessness services budget, county officials are defending their spending choices. “I stand by the money that we’ve moved into the community,” ​​Multnomah County Homeless Services Director Dan Field said. Multnomah County has been under fire since asking for aid from other governments last month to cover a gap in its homeless services budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year that officials initially claimed was $104 million wide.
