The news of
#BenMcCollum’s hiring, which popped Monday morning, had already energized a ready-to-awaken fan base that watched him run circles around
#Missouri in the NCAA Tournament, in what would become McCollum’s 31st win and penultimate game as
#Drake’s coach.
And just hours before Tuesday afternoon’s official introduction came the expected-but-seismic confirmation that one of the
#NCAA Tournament’s first-weekend stars, Bennett Stirtz, was planning to follow McCollum to
#IowaCity for his senior season.
Combine those boosts with some of the impressive interview clips that had been circulated in recent days, and it was a stone-cold lock that McCollum would decidedly “win the press conference” in his first public remarks as the
#Hawkeyes’ new coach.
He, in fact, dominated the press conference.
