🧑‍🏫 The participants of the IPT Content Traching Academy (CTA) were given lots of time to create adapted versions of the two books they received related to the thematic unit: solar system 🪐 📚 The two books provided were: The Sun is Kind of a Big Deal by @theawkwardyeti and Xo, Exoplanet written by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by @jorgelaceracreates Adapted books are a fantastic way to increase engagement for students with complex disabilities. It can: 📖 Provide physical access for those with fine and gross motor challenges 📖 Provide a more sensory experience 📖 Help build better understanding for those with cognitive impairments 📖 Increase motivation and engagement ‼️The Chafee Amendment (1996) authorizes nonprofit organizations or governmental agencies who service “blind or other persons with disabilities” the right to reproduce and distribute accessible materials.
