The Syracuse Canal Mules were the first-ever beer league hockey team. They skated on the Erie Canal in the 1920s. When the canal was filled in, we thought the team dissolved. Turns out, the Canal Mules kept playing and had a 100-year old rivalry with the Rochester Hoodledashers.
