The Brookfield Place lights are out 💙⭐ 7th Ave & 1st ST SW. That sound you hear? It's what you'll hear in the plaza if you visit. The sounds of a melting glacier, in real time. It comes from the Bow Glacier, which feeds the Bow River. Called 'Herald/Harbinger' it translates data from a seismic observatory located on the Bow Glacier into an immersive sound and light experience. As the glacier slowly melts, moves and creaks, the sound picked up is broadcast through 16 speakers under the benches in the plaza, and the lights change in response to the shifting ice. It's kind of confusing, unless you know what you're hearing. Then it's very cool, but also a little alarming.
