It's up to us to stop the spread of Hammerhead Flatworms! It's easy to identify this invasive species by its distinctive head shape.
This carnivorous worm eats our earthworm friends. While they are harmless to plants, they can eradicate earthworm populations. Hammerhead worms also secrete chemical toxins that can cause skin irritations in humans, so be careful not to touch them.
Hammerhead Flatworms are often spotted in the early morning hours, especially after a hard rain. They love moisture and will stick to just about any surface that’s wet or moist, as well as on tree trunks and branches.
With no known natural predators, Hammerhead Flatworms can spread quickly, wrecking havoc on earthworm populations.
If you see this invasive worm, trap it in a container and dispose of it!
