Have you heard of lasagna gardening? It’s a no-till gardening method where materials are added in layers and left to “cook” over time. Fall is the best time to start a lasagna garden. Follow these steps to give your plants some of the best garden soil they’ve ever had! 📦 Put down a bottom layer of cardboard or several sheets of newspaper. This smothers grass and weeds and provides a dark environment to attract earthworms. Water this bottom layer to encourage decomposition. 🍂 Alternate layers of "brown materials," such as shredded leaves, shredded newspaper, compost, wood chips, worm castings, and mulch with layers of “green materials,” such as vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, manure, fresh garden trimmings, and grass clippings. ♨️ Let the garden “cook” all winter.
