March On! Celebrates the Women of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. 💖 On August 28, 1963, Dr. Dorothy Height, the president of the National Council of Negro women, took her rightful place on the speaker stage at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Though she was not scheduled to speak, her influence was undeniable. A master organizer and strategist, Height played a pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement. Her expertise was sought by leaders such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Lyndon B. Johnson. She was instrumental in organizing the March on Washington, advocating for jobs, freedom, and justice. Despite facing gender discrimination within the movement, Dr. Height remained steadfast in her mission, proving that progress requires both courage and perseverance. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of leaders fighting for equity and inclusion. Source: National Women’s History Museum #DorothyHeight #WomensHistoryMonth #StoriesThatMove #MarchOn
