For
#womenshistorymonth, we’re celebrating Howard University alumni Elizabeth Catlett, a revolutionary force in the world of sculpture, drawing and printmaking.
Through her art, Catlett captured strength, resilience, and struggles of Black and working-class people in the United States and Mexico. She believed that art was not just for galleries, but rather it was for the people.
The National Gallery of Art now features an exhibition called, “Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist” which you can check out from now until July.
The Howard art department will also celebrate the exhibit on April 5 with activities and a performance from the howardgospelchoir
Don’t miss this special exhibit and read more about Catlett and her revolutionary art with the link in our bio.
