Since its establishment in 1876, Texas A&M University has a rich history of military service. The aggiecorps prepares cadets to lead in the armed forces, sending more officers into military service than any other public university. Eight Aggie Medal of Honor recipients came from different backgrounds but ultimately exhibited the core values Texas A&M holds dear. Five gave their lives in service to their country. Each proved himself through dedication, loyalty, compassion, and selflessness. As we observe Medal of Honor Recipient Day, let's remember and honor these brave Aggies and all Medal of Honor Recipients who exemplified the highest standards of service and sacrifice.
