A strong earthquake has struck central Myanmar, and people rushed out of buildings as far away as Bangkok, the capital of neighbouring Thailand. The United States Geological Survey said the quake was of 7.7 magnitude and at a depth of 10 km. It was followed by a powerful aftershock.
