The macyouthdanceco attended Blue Lapis on Tuesday March 11 to learn about and take an aerial silks class. This is the second year that the company has been to Blue Lapis.
For junior pre-professional member Olivia Pittman this experience was a great way to be exposed to a new style of art and was great excuse to bond with her class
“My favorite part was getting to hangout with my friends,” Pittman said. “I also enjoyed getting to try something new and fun.”
Pittman said it was challenging to perform skills that required strength they did not normally practice in a dance class.
“A lot of tricks required hand and wrist strength, which was something particularly new,” Pittman said. “The biggest challenge was how tired some muscles that we don’t often work would get.”
Pittman believed that this opportunity was very beneficial to all of the dancers especially because a lot of dancers in Mac Dance want to move into the professional dance world.
