The men and women who served in this conflict truly did a thankless job. Offered up by their own leaders to fight in a war that those same “leaders” had no intention of winning or even had an objective for, then spurned by many of their own citizens who just believed media propagated BS. The end result? For those that survived, a lifetime of physical and mental trauma, survivors guilt, and void of leaving so many of their friends behind. For the fallen, their families and friends were left with an unfillable void. If you see or know a Vietnam Vet, offer them a handshake and a thank you. My dad earned two Purple Hearts in Vietnam, a fact I did not find out until later in life. When I asked him about them, he simply responded “It doesn’t bring my friends back, why talk about it.” These men and women will always have a special place in my heart. #vietnamveterans #army #navy #airforce #marines
