President Donald Trump on Monday appointed his former personal defense lawyer Alina Habba as interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. Habba, a native of the Garden State, defended Trump in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case and recently served as Trump’s presidential counselor. Sharing his decision via Truth Social, the president said he is confident Habba will succeed in the role.
