Volunteers are the heart of a community. At the March 27th Tempe City Council meeting, 36 youth received Presidential Service and Mayoral Appreciation awards, recognizing the positive impact they’ve had on Tempe. In 2024, they collectively contributed more than 3,600 volunteer hours, assisting at City special events, Parks and Recreation and Community Arts classes and camps, Tempe History Museum and Tempe Library programs, as well as serving as Junior Lifeguards. A Gold Presidential Service Award is given to a volunteer that completes 100 hours or more of service in a calendar year. Tempe had 12 Gold recipients.
