The JSerra Athletic Administration is proud to announce that Olympic gold medalist Mike Eruzione has been named the guest speaker for the 2025 JESPY Awards. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, Eruzione was a three-sport standout (baseball, football, and hockey), who was also an all-scholastic student. He went on to play hockey at Boston University, where he helped the Terriers win four Eastern Collegiate Championships. He eventually finished his collegiate career as the school’s third leading scorer. In 1980, Mike was selected captain of the United States Men’s Hockey team and led the team to the Olympic Gold Medal, the second ever won by the U.S. in men’s hockey. Amongst the run to the gold medal for the United States was its’ 4-3 victory over the heavily favored Soviet Union in the semifinals, which saw Eruzione score the eventual game-winning goal with 10:00 left in the third period.
