Today, my research brought me to the Mother of Modern Day Casting; Marion Dougherty. She was the casting director who gave James Dean, WarrenBeatty, Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman and Glenn Close their first on-screen opportunities. You may also know her from casting Midnight Cowboy (1969), Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), Escape from Alcatraz (1979, Batman (1989) and Lethal Weapon (1987, 1989, 1992, 1998).
