AUDITIONS 101: Can actors be considered “real people”? 📚
Actors CAN be considered real people, BUT they typically are not.
WHEN ACTORS ARE REAL PEOPLE:
In advertising, actors ARE real people, if they have the life experience the brand is looking for. I.E. if the brand is looking for “real parents,” being an actor does not negate your parenthood status.
In reality TV, actors ARE real people, if they are portraying themselves, unscripted, going through the same experiences as the rest of the contestants. I.E. if the reality show is casting for singles, being an actor does not negate your relationship status.
WHEN ACTORS ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE:
In advertising, actors are NOT real people, if they are looking for “new faces,” or people with no on-camera experience.
The rationale is, if you were to give a “real people testimonial” for an ad, and someone was to recognize you from a different show, movie, or ad campaign, they would be less inclined to believe your “truth” in the real people...
