BACKGROUND PERFORMER 101: “Featured BG” or “Featured Extra” Did you know is there are different *kinds* of film extras? “Featured BG” is just 1 example! Background actors, “BG”, are actors who are not given lines, but are on camera behind the main action. They are usually given certain movements to do, to paint the scene in a realistic way. As BG, you are not always seen by the camera, but your presence helps make the scene feel more like real life. Featured BG are those who can be seen on camera, interacting with the main actors, but who are not speaking! This might be a bartender, a cashier, a waiter, a delivery driver, or any other character who gets *close* to the on screen action.
