Hiking Volcán de Fuego was by far the TOUGHEST hike we have ever done in our lives 🥲🌋 We got lucky because the hike had just reopened during our visit and although we didn’t get the eruption that we had hoped, but we got to see baby sparks!! 🤩🔥 Fuego currently isn’t active now but if you are still down for the hike, here are some things to note: - bring a face mask because it is REALLLLY dusty - wear lotsss of sun screen and apply it throughout the hike - had to bring dry shampoo from @amika and it was a game changer - bring lots of water and snacks. But if you feel like you didn’t bring enough (like us), they sell them throughout the hike! - you can pay someone to carry your bags up for you. It costs 500 Quetzal (~$65 USD) one way - you can rent out gear from the tour guides (boots, pants, jackets, headlamps, gloves, etc) - hydrateeee and carb up before the hike — you’ll need it 🥲 It took us closer to 5 hours to reach the top, and 3 hours back.
