In 2024, Color Of Change launched the new Black Tech Agenda, created in response to technology’s proliferation into every aspect of society, and particularly the expanded use of artificial intelligence tools. While technology is seen as neutral, these systems often repeat patterns of racial discrimination and harm Black communities. The Agenda envisions a truly equitable future, and it is only possible with community organization and a decisive response from federal and state legislatures. Not only does the Black Tech Agenda describe the challenges in tech, but it discusses methods for building community involvement, proposes policies, details necessary industry changes, and empowers organizers. It is not merely a set of principles and policies–it is a blueprint for mobilizing action and securing real accountability in technology.
