As we say goodbye to 2024, we want to highlight some of our many wins from this year. In 2024, Color Of Change took on predatory tax prep corporations that target low-income Black communities with exorbitant fees and error-prone services. Companies like Intuit and H&R Block participated in these harmful practices, which cost Black taxpayers countless hours and dollars year after year. With the help of our partner Coalition for Free and Fair Filing, the Better IRS campaigners, and supporters like you, we were able to lobby for the expansion of the IRS’s free Direct File program to all 50 states. 24 states have already committed to the program for the 2025 tax filing season, which will save Black residents millions.
