When you think of Patagonia, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s the jagged snow-capped mountains, endless sprawl of fjords, or ocean as wild as the land it borders. But even here, humanity has sunk its grip. Kelp harvesting is endangering underwater forests that act as carbon sinks, various shark species are at risk of extinction, and salmon farms are further impacting already-fragile ecosystems. Our friends at Por El Mar are doing vital work on these issues—which desperately need attention. This passionate team of scientists, activists, communicators, and policy experts is working to protect kelp forests, advance shark conservation, and keep salmon farms out of the ocean. porelmar_org just launched their new website—check it out to learn more about their work and watch the full video!
