Good news! (sort of) Last week, the Canadian government quietly released the draft salmon aquaculture transition plan for British Columbia. The plan outlines support for First Nations and workers, promotes new aquaculture technology, and includes a gradual phase-out of open-net salmon farms by 2029. With the BC election fast approaching, the stakes have never been higher. The Conservatives plan to maximize exploitation of BC’s resources and are likely to undo all progress, allowing salmon farms to continue polluting our waters. We can’t afford to let this happen—local wild salmon populations are already close to extinction. If you live in BC, please consider voting for a party that prioritizes the health of our ecosystems. Every vote counts in protecting the future of our wild salmon and coastal communities. Video by paulnicklen #salmonfarms #explore #bcelection
