"I happened to inherit my first film camera in summer 2019, just as I was seeing more and more film shots making their way into my Instagram feed. From there I followed what I think is the standard progression into film, starting with 35mm, then to 120, and eventually into getting a 4x5 camera. I find shooting film presents a different set of challenges than shooting digital. Digital has its place in my portfolio, but I seem to cherish the film shots more. Maybe it's the Millennial in me that grew up on film, maybe it's the extra work and care that goes into making a film composition. Living in Alaska provides endless opportunities for landscape photography.
