"My photography focuses on portraiture by bringing the real world into focus instead of creating one. Drawing inspiration from Vivian Maier and Gordon Parks, my goal as a photographer is to document people/artists who are deserving of the spotlight and contribute to the world in a positive way. Nancy and I wanted to work together for some time, so we decided to shoot at a location outside of a production studio in Hollywood. The weather was overcast that day but it was perfect for lighting. We kept it simple by shooting two looks from her wardrobe, and what resulted are some of my favorite images; black & white has become my favorite film type for almost a year now and Tri X strikes the perfect balance of contrast and detail while adding grain that's very characteristic of Kodak's film stock.
