I am drawn to communities where tradition, community, and identity are strongly intertwined with the land, and the advances of modernity are slowed. I believe that’s where we find a glimpse of the resilience of all people. Likewise, I am drawn to environments and landscapes that stand as an eternal witness to the oneness between humans and nature. I often find myself returning to the same locations and the same people to take photos. I find that it allows me to revise and further understand the people and places I photograph, allowing me to tell a more complete story. I choose to document these subjects with natural beauty and simple ornamentation as an act of resistance to the over-complicated and increasingly impersonal world.
