Truly a shopper’s paradise! The Grand Bazaar is the largest and oldest covered market in the world, dating back to the 15th century. There’s a lot to navigate between the 4,000 shops so here are my top tips: 1. Go in with a focus. I chose to focus on antique jewelry, kaftans and soaps. You can truly buy so many different things that it can become overwhelming. 2. Don’t be afraid to negotiate. The first price quoted is the starting point. I also offer to bundle for discounts e.g. “if I get two, what’s the best price you can offer?” 3. Get to know the shop owners! They all have a unique history and story and many have been collecting within their speciality for decades. You can greet people with ‘Merhaba’ for hello. 4. Leave enough time!
