“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty” 🦋✨💌🎰 From the first time I stepped onto the campus to the last, one thing I know for sure is that I have GROWN. Not only on the field but as a woman, teammate, daughter, sister, and leader. The five years I spent at UCLA were full of love, joy, and probably too much laughter. There are too many people that have been a part of making this dream come true. Little Maya only dreamed of wearing those letters, while getting to wear her favorite number…and the fact I made it happen still makes me tear up. Although I’ll never wear the jersey again and that part of my identity has differed, the lessons I learned will never leave. Everything I did was to make my family, coaches, and teammates proud.
