BTS of Queen Line— as seen in hbo Here to Climb - now streaming on MAX! A couple years ago, Lynn Hill invited me in on this idea to check out the potential of a multi pitch line on the Maiden feature in the Flatirons. Over the course of the next couple months, we climbed to the top of the feature and rappelled down, scoping out where the line could go - identifying the natural features - finagling our way to the wall from near 45 degree angles hundreds of feet up. We submitted a permit to bolt the line we identified to the flatironsclimbingcouncil and then the real work began— essentially full days of high angle construction work! We started with developing the first pitch and made our way up the steep and exposed wall, testing out moves and realizing we were tackling something quite hard. I tore my A2 pulley in March, so it was a nice way to still spend big days outside in the vicinity of climbing, and have a big outdoor objective that I could work on while not being able to use ...
