It’s been a dreary
#StormSurvivorSunday but the ~1899 Beal Home shines bright and as resilient as it did during the Great Storm of 1900. This
#StormSurvivor was forever immortalized through interviews with Emma Beal, who was just 10 years old when she and her family rode out the storm in the recently completed home.
“I don’t remember the water rising. I know my brother got the axe and he made a big hole in the floor so the water could come in. People were coming in here to get out of the water and were scared to death.” - Through a Night of Horrors
Emma went on to live a long and successful life on the island where she was one of the very first female insurance agents. Have a great Sunday evening all (2nd 📸 from this evening) and let’s hope for the return of the sun tomorrow!! ☀️
