Today marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Joe Delaney, a hero who gave his life trying to save three children from drowning. In his honor, the Joe Delaney Learn to Swim program was created to teach children how to swim and prevent drowning. If you’re not familiar with the program, it’s a free swim lessons program for children ages 4-12. The program is offered at pools throughout the Kansas City area.
