The beautiful Rupestre, as she is known to local guides. It can be easy to lose yourself in the vastness of a natural landscape like Patagonia and feel the smallness of your own little life. Faced with the size and beauty of our planet, we learn the fragility of our fleeting existence. And yet, the mark we leave in a living world is anything but small. Our collective impact as human beings has driven much of our planet’s wildlife into smaller and smaller spaces of refuge. My hope in capturing close and intimate images of animals like pumas is to remind us that there are living beings behind the global loss of biodiversity, each with their own stories and vital role within the ecosystem.
