The rufous hummingbird only reaches about 3in (8cm) in length, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for with its dazzling colours and spitfire attitude. While most of the work I do centers on megafauna or life beneath the surface, that does not keep me from seeking the beauty of nature in all wildlife, big or small. Our planet’s living systems are deeply interconnected and limiting your photographic subject to one component feels like missing the bigger picture. Our ocean, for example, touches every aspect of life on Earth through weather patterns, our global climate, and countless underlying cycles we are only just beginning to understand. Nature seems determined to defy our attempts to limit or fully comprehend her, which is why it never made sense to restrict my work as an artist trying to do her story justice. #interconnected #beauty #naturephotography
