Risk factors for stroke, include hypertension, diabetes, certain heart, arrhythmias, smoking, obesity, sickle cell, anemia, high cholesterol, and others. Unfortunately, blacks also have higher rates of some of these risk factors.
Now favorably 80% of strokes can be prevented with lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, losing excess body, weight, managing stress, reducing alcohol, taking in more fruits and vegetables and increasing physical activity.
