Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
PAD is a common condition that affects more than 3 million people per year. Black Americans are disproportionately affected by this disease while they are also less likely to be diagnosed and promptly treated .
It is caused by the buildup of plaque in the peripheral arteries that causes narrowing, resulting in reduced blood flow to the head, arms, stomach and legs. Typically presents as leg pain while walking.
