HERITAGE BOATWORKS UPDATES! The mast has been put back in place on the Skipjack after the volunteer crew touched it up with UV protection epoxy. They treated the mast, jib, boom and gaff and now she’s looking ship shape! ⚓️
SKIPJACK EXHIBIT DETAILS
The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum has been supporting traditional boatbuilding in St. Augustine since 2007 when it first established the Heritage Boatworks, a living boatbuilding exhibit the purpose of which is to recover and pass on the art of traditional boat carpentry to future generations and share it with the general public.
In the Heritage Boatworks program, community volunteers learn and practice the traditional art of boat carpentry in full view of the public, and produce great works of art out of local timber.
