#NationalCaregiverDay, we’re spotlighting the Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) Groups. These virtual workshops are co-facilitated by a caregiver of a child with complex medical needs and Holland Bloorview staff members, Robin Hermolin and Shawna Perkins. “The aim of the ACT workshop is to promote mental health and wellbeing of parents and caregivers by learning and practicing mindfulness, acceptance and value-based processes consistent with the ACT model,” explain Robin and Shawna.
Alifa Khan, Holland Bloorview parent and Family Leader who has co-led the workshops as Family as Faculty, adds: “ACT is most likely one of the first workshops caregivers will do that is meant to be for and about them.
