Catron County commissioners voted unanimously to approve the emergency declaration, which is now on its way to the governor's desk.⁠ ⁠ This should result in more state funding for range riders and other resources that can help county residents protect their animals and neighbors. Several ranchers and hunting outfitters provided public comment before the vote, as did the county sheriff. (Every local resident who spoke up during the meeting did so in support of the resolution.)
