Coming to The Miami Auction | 1978 Porsche 911 ‘930’ Turbo 🇩🇪 Much of the Porsche 911 road car’s development was directly influenced by the factory’s racing program. The introduction of Group 4 homologation rules in the early 1970s, which mandated the production of 400 road cars, led to the birth of ‘Project 930’—the legendary 911 Turbo. Launched in April 1975, the Turbo paired a Kühnle, Kopp, and Kausch turbocharger with the 3.0-liter Carrera RSR engine, producing 260 bhp and a top speed of 155 mph. More than just speed, the Turbo was the most refined 911 of its time, featuring a four-speed gearbox optimized for flexibility and capable of rocketing from a standstill to 100 mph in just 14 seconds. By 1978, the engine was enlarged to 3.3 liters, gaining an intercooler and pushing output to 300 bhp, making it the fastest-accelerating road car of its era.
