The thoracic spine is designed for rotation, flexion, and extension, offering significant mobility. However, due to poor posture and the presence of twelve pairs of ribs, many people lack proper thoracic spine movement and instead overuse the lower back, which is meant to be stable. This misuse can lead to lower back pain. Improving thoracic spine mobility can help address this issue, but it requires correcting poor posture and consistently incorporating mobility exercises. Additionally, hip mobility plays a crucial role; when the hips are stiff, it can further strain the lower back, emphasizing the need for both thoracic and hip mobility for overall spinal health and proper hip function.
