Ovi appreciation post! Growing up 8 was my favorite player and an idol, as kids we used to collect different game pictures and highlights of Ovi, and any time new one popped up on the internet we downloaded it right away and bragged about it, we copied his style, yellow laces, hanging down pants and sticking out tongues on our skates, we tried to be him so much sometimes we tried bending the curve on our sticks. We didn’t have access to actual NHL games, so we only watched him at worlds once every couple years, which was the best time of the year, as a kid you get to watch Ovi score goals, nothing better! His passion for the game and for scoring goals inspired so many kids to play the game. Never I had a thought that I’ll play against or with him, and I’m very thankful that I had a chance.
