After Sunday’s March Madness final, Vanessa Bryant, wife of the late Kobe Bryant, posted a congratulatory message to the UConn women’s basketball team, saying, “Gigi would’ve loved being there with you. ‘When you think you can’t, UCONN’ ~ Gianna Bryant.” Huskies star point guard Paige Bueckers was asked postgame if she thought about Gigi Bryant during her team’s title winning run and emotionally replied, “Kobe’s watching over us. Gigi’s watching over us.” Gigi, also affectionately nicknamed Mambacita, had dreamed of one day being a Huskies basketball player.
