I can’t stand when people say there’s not enough competition in elementary or middle school. Most kids that age aren’t even consistent with their weak hand, don’t talk on defense, don’t box out, and can’t read screens. They’re getting by on size and athleticism—nothing more. If your kid is truly advanced, playing up a grade (or two or three) will solve the ‘competition’ problem real quick. But honestly, the real competition is internal. Can you apply what you’ve learned in games? Can you improve your weaknesses under pressure? That’s the real battle.
